if u want banking career and care a lot about the pay, pick scb

if u want banking career and care more about brand name, pick hsbc

speaking of company culture, worked at both scb and bbg

scb is like pure 港資, no one talks, dead office, micromanagement, not usual to see CCIB ig leave on time after the first few months

bbg has more freedom, fixed 8am to 6pm never OT, but it's a data company rather than a bank

so really depends on your own path - picking bbg means the chance to switch back to banking is slim, and ppl who entered bbg usually will stay in the company until they retire, as they definitely cant find the pay comparable to bbg. that's why ppl call bbg as 商界AO (career progression, fixed working hours never OT, limited non-transferable skillset)
