Year 2 intern

Erica
Erica
hello! I'm a sophomore based in the U.S. I would like to enter the finance industry and work in Hong Kong. However, most of the banks in Hong Kong only hire junior for their summer intern 2022. Any people have suggestions or tips for me to finding boutique or small firms since I'm not based in Hong Kong? I have limited network and knowledge. Thank you!

Hey Erica, welcome to our platform! Not sure if you are referring to remote internship or simply referring to not having an advantage for you as a student stuyding in US....if it's about remote internship it may not be that easy, as I knew only a very small number of large firms in financial sector did have such an arrangement but just BlackRock does rhat as I heard. Otherwise, you may wish to explore some world-leading Cryptocurrency Exchange platforms which they did offer remote internship eg Binance / OKEx, which you can search for their openings on our "opportunities" section.

If you are talking about not having an adv, I think it's definitely not a concern as students studying in US are attractive candidates in HRs' minds as you should have great multi-cultural exposure, and more importantly many large firms are MNCs which by nature they hire a lot foreigners in HK. They need new joiners like you that are asians (probably?) but with great cultural connections with the western world. Just apply for it! One major concern is you should be aware of the interview schedule as not all of thr employers offer interviews across time zones..z
